Why I chose Pitt

I knew Pitt had very strong research and faculty, thus assuring myself that I would receive good training, however, I chose the University of Pittsburgh mainly because of the people here. As an MD/PhD student, I knew I would be spending the next 7-8 years with my classmates, so I wanted to attend a school with a student body that was similarly motivated but relaxed. Additionally, the strength of the medical school and the advantages of living in a city that doesn’t feel like a big city, but offers many of the advantages of a big city were a strong draw for the University of Pittsburgh.

Following completion of his PhD, Ben returned to medical school.
